[07] Interior Weather
2024
👉🏻︎
Interior Weather is a data-driven light installation that translates outdoor wind into an indoor field of colour. An anemometer collects real-time wind-speed data, which is mapped to changes in the colour and brightness of linear RGB LED tubes. As the wind changes, the atmosphere of the room shifts with it, forming a continuously evolving “interior weather.”
The work was produced and exhibited in Quzhou, Zhejiang, China, in 2024. The photographs shown here document its fabrication, technical testing, installation, and exhibition process in Quzhou.
The project was later developed into a site-specific proposal for Bremerhaven, a port city on Germany’s North Sea coast. This version planned to transmit live wind data from the harbour to an exhibition space on Alte Bürger, connecting the city’s coastal climate with an indoor light environment. The Bremerhaven project was cancelled before on-site installation.
